setting up a pottery pop-up shop in the owl’s attic

sometimes wonderful opportunities just fall into your lap and this was deffffinitely one of them.

the owl’s attic is orlando’s favorite vintage shop and also home to a handful of local makers and their goods! i have been shopping at this store for years, and i was so honored when the owner, brittany, asked me if i wanted a booth inside for it’s wonky. i didn’t hesitate to accept and immediately started drawing up ideas for the shop on my ipad! one of those being turning my logo into a handbuilt sign! this li'l’ project came at just the right time, as the summer was my least busy season - due to heat preventing me from popping up around orlando!

after a few brainstorm sessions, my husband and i were headed to ikea to pickup the shelves for my wonky wall! i was able to keep my expenses low and only managed to spend around $60 on all the shelving.

i already had a handful of pieces set aside for the shop which meant i didn’t have to start from scratch on inventory - another nod to the perfect timing of this opportunity :)

i think this was/is a big step for my little business as this is only my first full year of dedicating 90% of my creative time to my ceramics. it also felt a little more exciting than a wholesale order, because i was able to make whatever i wanted and curate this collection of ceramics entirely! it’s like a pop-up that never ends and i feel so fortunate to be supported by the orlando community and hope to continue to share my pieces to my homecity and beyond by having this wonky wall!

you can watch this vlog about my setup process and what all i did leading up to install day!

and if you’re local swing by the owl’s attic to shop wonky and more great local artists in audubon park :)
