making my summer ceramics colletion
blue skies are in the forecast for this summer both in weather and in my ceramics. this batch of work came from a place of wanting everyday wares for the home that feel calm and cozy - which i guess is the place i’m always coming from. i’ve been challenging myself this year by keeping my collections monochromatic and this season’s blue has me feeling like i’m lying in a field of grass watching the clouds go by.
i spent most of april and may in my little living room studio making this bunch of work not only for my summer shop update but also to update the few shops that i sell my work in. i tried out a new workflow and spent my days throwing for shorter periods across more days. this helped keep my hands in clay and cut down on the large gap between when i’m throwing and when i’m not.
it doesn’t feel like i actually made a lot of work until i see it all in the kiln. and opening this load, knowing that i still have around forty more pieces to glaze, it felt like i blacked out and all of these silly ceramics appeared lol.
i’m incredibly excited to put the finishing touches on the pieces, photograph them, and get them listed on the site to sell in june! sign up to my newsletter to be the first to get access to this shop update on june 20th
