august in the studio
it was a pretty busy all over the place kind of month but i managed to document a lot if it not only in video form for my youtube channel, but also in photo form so here’s a lil recap of what all i got up to!
i started the month of with kiln issues that thankfully got resolved so that i was able to release my take me with you tumbler collection. i had the urge to have a lil’ in between drop since i’ve been focusing on quarterly shop updates this year and these silly tumblers felt like the perfect piece to launch. it’s always nerve-racking putting my pieces out there, but i’m so grateful for the orders i receive - truly keeps this lil’ biz running!
after i put that collection out into the world, it took some motivation but i got on my wheel for two throwing sessions where i knocked out the rest of the pieces for my autumn shop update. it’s been harder this year for me having my studio in my living room, so i once i get the urge to create i usually just zone in for a few days and then tidy up and take a break so my living room can be a living room again for little while.
the theme of this upcoming collection is an evening at home. i had a solo dinner party in mind - small plates, dessert bowls lil’ tumblers, etc. all the pieces you’d want to make a cozy meal for yourself, or for you and someone else, as the autumn air is blowing in through your windows. i’m looking forward to seeing how it comes to life at the process continues!
now that these pieces are in the kiln for their first firing, i am getting into the glazing headspace so that i can get right to painting once i’m able to unload. i have had a heavy month emotionally and mentally - running a small business in 2025 in not the easiest thing to do, and the challenges of it all, especially financially, were weighing on me. i know that wonky is ever evolving, and i know that whatever shape it continues to take, i just want to be present while i’m on this wild ride.
